Local DXF Drawing Viewer

Open an ASCII DXF drawing on this device. Pan and zoom, show or hide layers, measure a distance, and export the geometry this viewer supports. The original file is not uploaded.

The file is read in this browser and is not uploaded. Only basic 2D lines, circles, arcs and straight-segment polylines are drawn; unsupported entities are listed and excluded from measurements and export.

Parser source and license

This viewer bundles dxf-parser 1.1.2 and loglevel 1.9.2 under the MIT license. The parser runs in a local worker; source and license links are provided here.

Example

A line from (0, 0) to (10, 0) measures 10 drawing units. The viewer reads the DXF unit code when present; when it is absent, measurements are labelled as drawing units.

How it works

A local worker parses ASCII DXF. No scripts, external references, images, fonts or network resources in the file are executed or fetched. This viewer does not open DWG or binary DXF.

Questions

Does this viewer support DWG?

No. This tool opens ASCII DXF only. It does not decode DWG or binary DXF.

Why are some entities missing?

The viewer draws only the entity types listed in its supported-content section. Other entities are reported by type and count; they are not silently approximated.

Are measurements in millimetres?

Only when the DXF declares millimetres. Otherwise the viewer uses the declared unit or labels measurements as drawing units.

Supported content and limits

Supported preview and export: LINE, CIRCLE, ARC, and straight LWPOLYLINE/POLYLINE in the XY plane. Bulged curves, text, blocks, dimensions, splines, 3D entities and other types are listed as unsupported and are not included in measurements or exports. Maximum file size: 10 MB; maximum group records: 200,000.
