Electricity Cost Calculator

Estimate energy and cost for up to four appliances. Enter their rated power and schedule, then your price per kWh and any fixed charge for the billing period.

Appliance 1
Appliance 2 (optional)
Appliance 3 (optional)
Appliance 4 (optional)

Estimate only. Actual energy can differ because appliances cycle, draw standby power or use different settings. Your bill may also include time-of-use rates, taxes, tiered pricing and utility-specific fees. Enter the rate and fixed charge from your own bill; this tool does not fetch live rates or recommend plans.

How do I calculate electricity cost for an appliance?

Convert the appliance power to kilowatts, multiply by hours used on each active day and the number of active days, then multiply the energy in kWh by your entered price per kWh. The estimate uses the appliance rating and schedule you provide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate electricity cost for an appliance?

Convert the appliance power to kilowatts, multiply by hours used on each active day and the number of active days, then multiply the energy in kWh by your entered price per kWh. The estimate uses the appliance rating and schedule you provide.

Are appliance details or electricity rates uploaded?

No. The estimate runs locally in this browser; appliance names, schedules and rates are not sent to a server or saved by this tool.

How do I estimate the cost of running a 1,000 W appliance?

At 1,000 W, the appliance uses 1 kWh for each hour it runs. Multiply that by your own price per kWh. For example, one hour at 0.20 per kWh costs 0.20 before fixed charges.

Why can my actual bill differ from this estimate?

The calculation uses rated power and the schedule you enter. Thermostats and motor loads cycle, devices may draw standby power, and your utility may apply time-of-use pricing, taxes, tiers or additional fees.
