Frequency Tone Generator

Make a short sine, square, triangle or sawtooth tone, or sweep between two frequencies. Play it briefly at a low level or save a WAV made on this device.

Your inputs stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

Use the tool

The signal and WAV are generated in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Start at the lowest level. A browser slider cannot guarantee a safe sound level because each device is different.

Set a tone, then press Play or export a WAV.

Example

A 440 Hz sine tone gives a simple reference signal. A 200–1,200 Hz sweep changes pitch steadily over the chosen duration.

How the tone generator works

The page creates the signal with the browser Web Audio API and generates the WAV sample data locally. No upload, server conversion or account is used.

Frequency generator questions

Can I play a chosen frequency?

Yes. Choose a frequency from 20 Hz up to 20,000 Hz, subject to the browser audio device Nyquist limit. Some speakers and headphones cannot reproduce the full range.

Can I make a frequency sweep?

Yes. Select Frequency sweep and set its start and end frequencies. The frequency changes linearly during the selected playback or WAV duration.

Does it upload or record audio?

No. It creates and plays the selected signal locally. It does not use the microphone or send audio to a server.

Is this a hearing or speaker certification test?

No. Device hardware, volume, room and hearing differ. This tool provides a signal only and cannot certify equipment or diagnose hearing.

What does mono or stereo WAV mean?

Mono stores one audio channel. Stereo stores the same generated signal in two channels; it does not test left/right speaker balance.

Sound and device limits

This is a simple signal generator, not a certified audio, hearing or medical test. The sound reaching your ears depends on your device, speakers, headphones and system volume. Start very quietly and stop if uncomfortable. High frequencies may not play on every device.
