Gold Calculator

Convert a gold item’s weight and karat or purity into fine-gold content. Add your own price per gram of pure gold only if you want an illustrative value estimate.

Use either karat or purity percent. If purity is entered, it takes priority.

For example, −10% models a 10% discount. This does not predict an actual buyer offer.

Illustrative arithmetic only, not a live quote, appraisal, investment advice or guaranteed offer. Actual purity and resale prices vary; an item may include stones, other metals, fees or workmanship. Verify the item and current market price independently.

How do I calculate the value of gold?

Convert the item weight to grams and multiply by its purity fraction to estimate fine-gold weight. If you enter a price per gram of pure gold, the tool multiplies that price by the fine-gold weight and can apply your chosen premium or discount.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the value of gold?

Convert the item weight to grams and multiply by its purity fraction to estimate fine-gold weight. If you enter a price per gram of pure gold, the tool multiplies that price by the fine-gold weight and can apply your chosen premium or discount.

Does this tool fetch live gold prices or upload my values?

No. The tool does not fetch market prices or upload your inputs. Any price is entered by you and is only an assumption for arithmetic.

How much pure gold is in 10 g of 18-karat gold?

18-karat gold is 18/24, or 75%, gold by mass. Ten grams therefore contain an estimated 7.5 g of fine gold.

Does this show today’s gold price?

No. Enter a price yourself. The result is arithmetic based on that assumption, not a real-time market quote or a buyer’s offer.

What is the difference between ounces and troy ounces?

An avoirdupois ounce is about 28.3495 g; a troy ounce is about 31.1035 g. Gold-market weights commonly use troy ounces, so select the unit that matches your item.
