JSON Diff

Compare two JSON documents by structure, not by line order. Object key order is ignored. Review changes, match object arrays by a key, and copy or download a JSON Patch. Your data stays in this browser.

Paste the earlier JSON document.

Paste the updated JSON document.

For arrays of objects, enter a stable property such as id. Keys must be present and unique in each array.

Each JSON document can contain up to 200,000 characters. Comparison stops after 500 listed changes. Arrays can be compared by position or by a unique string/number property.

How do I compare two JSON files?

Paste the original JSON on the left and the new JSON on the right, then choose Compare. Keys in objects can appear in any order. Arrays compare by position unless you enter a key such as id to match records.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare two JSON files?

Paste the original JSON on the left and the new JSON on the right, then choose Compare. Keys in objects can appear in any order. Arrays compare by position unless you enter a key such as id to match records.

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. Parsing and comparison run in this browser. The tool does not upload or save your JSON. Each document is limited to 200,000 characters.

Does JSON Diff ignore object key order?

Yes. Keys inside JSON objects are compared by name, so moving a key does not count as a change. Array order is meaningful unless you choose a unique object key for matching.

Can I compare arrays of objects by ID?

Yes. Choose “By object key” and enter a property such as id. Every item in each array must contain a unique string or number in that property.

Can I export the differences?

Yes. Copy the summary or download a JSON Patch. The patch uses array positions and follows common RFC 6902 operations; review it before applying it to important data.
