JSON to XML Converter

Convert JSON and XML in either direction on this device. Repeated XML elements become JSON arrays; JSON arrays become repeated elements. Attributes use @name and element text uses #text. No file is uploaded.

Objects become nested elements. Use @name for attributes and #text for element text.

Conversion is not type-preserving: XML text becomes JSON strings; null, empty values, comments and formatting may not round-trip exactly.

How do I convert JSON to XML?

Choose a direction, paste valid JSON or XML, set the XML root name if needed, and select Convert. JSON arrays become repeated XML elements, while repeated XML child names become JSON arrays.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert JSON to XML?

Choose a direction, paste valid JSON or XML, set the XML root name if needed, and select Convert. JSON arrays become repeated XML elements, while repeated XML child names become JSON arrays.

Is my JSON or XML uploaded?

No. Conversion runs locally in your browser. Input is limited to 200,000 characters, and XML DTD/entity declarations are blocked.

How are JSON arrays represented in XML?

Each array value becomes another element with the same name. When converted back, repeated child element names are grouped into a JSON array. A top-level array is wrapped in your selected root with item child elements.

Does JSON to XML preserve data types?

No. XML element text has no JSON number or boolean type, so XML to JSON returns text values as strings. Null and empty values can also become indistinguishable.

Is XML DTD or external entity processing supported?

No. DTD and entity declarations are blocked. The tool parses input locally and does not fetch external resources.
