Multiply the total bed area by the chosen depth. Add an optional allowance for uneven ground or settling, then divide by the bag volume and round up to whole bags.

Are my measurements uploaded?

No. The calculation runs in this browser. Measurements are not sent to a server or saved by this tool.

How many bags cover one cubic metre?

Divide 1,000 litres by the litres in one bag, then round up if you are buying for exactly one cubic metre. For example, 50-litre bags require 20 bags before any extra allowance.

Should I add extra mulch?

You can enter an allowance for uneven surfaces, settling or handling. The calculator does not choose a horticultural depth or waste percentage for you; follow plant-care guidance and the product label.
