Frequently asked questions
How do I add bookmarks to a PDF?
Choose a PDF and read its supported internal page bookmarks. Add or edit a title, page and optional parent section, arrange entries, then save a separate PDF copy. You can also import or export the outline as JSON.
Are my PDF or bookmarks uploaded?
No. The selected document is processed in this browser after you choose it. UsefulVerse does not upload the PDF or send its bookmark data to a server.
Can bookmarks be nested under sections?
Yes. Set a parent section to create a hierarchy. The document page itself remains unchanged; each bookmark points to the page number you choose.
Will this preserve bookmarks that open external links?
This editor currently supports internal page destinations. It rejects files with unsupported external actions or named destinations rather than silently dropping them.
Does it change the PDF pages or signature?
It edits the document outline and saves a new copy, not the page content. Any edit can invalidate a digital signature, so check the result and do not treat this tool as signature preservation.
