Rounds: — · Turn: — · Dice: —

This browser version uses tiles numbered 1 through 9. Rules differ between physical sets and groups, so the selected dice variant is shown before play. No account, network opponent, bet, prize or upload is used. The computer opponent runs locally and follows legal combinations.

A roll of seven

After rolling 7, you can close tile 7 or close tiles 3 and 4. The chosen tiles must be open and their sum must match the dice exactly.

How to play

Choose a dice rule before starting. Each turn, roll and close a legal combination. If no combination matches, your turn ends and the remaining tile values are your score for that round. The lowest total wins. You can practise alone or take turns against a local computer on the same device.

Frequently asked questions

Are there different rules?

Yes. Shut the Box has house-rule variations. This tool names the dice rule in use: always two dice, switch to one die when tiles 7, 8 and 9 are closed, or switch when the remaining tile sum is six or less.

Can I play with another person online?

There is no online multiplayer. In computer mode, you and a local computer opponent take turns on this device.

Is this a betting game?

No. This version is for practice and casual play. It has no wagers, payments, prizes or gambling features.

Is my score uploaded?

No. A saved game is kept only in this browser on this device.
