Use the tool

Check whether a Swiss business identification number has the expected CHE format and check digit. Paste one number or a list, then review the result on this device.

Numbers stay in this browser. They are not uploaded or looked up in a register.

Paste one or more numbers, then check them.

This offline format check does not contact a registry, confirm a business identity, or validate current VAT status. A correct checksum can still belong to an unassigned, inactive, or mistyped number.

Example

The published standard example CHE-109.322.551 passes its check digit. A valid check digit still does not prove that a real business exists or is active.

How the check works

The validator normalizes common spacing and punctuation and checks the official eight-digit Modulo 11 calculation. It does not contact the Swiss UID register and cannot confirm that a number is assigned, active, or VAT-registered.

Frequently asked questions

Does a matching check digit mean the company is active?

No. It only checks number structure and its Modulo 11 check digit. Search the official UID register to confirm assignment and current status.

Does this confirm VAT registration?

No. A MWST, TVA or IVA suffix is not proof of current VAT registration. The supplement can change; verify status in the official register.

Can I check a list?

Yes. Paste one number per line. The local checker accepts up to 100 non-empty lines per batch and can export the results as CSV.
