Example
A cube with vertices from 0 to 10 has a bounding box of 10 × 10 × 10 file units. The viewer preserves the file’s coordinates and does not assume millimetres.
How it works
STL, OBJ and glTF 2.0 geometry is parsed locally. STEP files use a separately licensed CAD kernel in a cancellable local worker. glTF external file references are rejected; embedded data is allowed. Textures and material libraries are not fetched.
Questions
Does this viewer support STEP files?
Yes. Choose the output unit stated in the STEP file. The STEP engine runs in a separate cancellable local worker and its source and license are linked on this page.
Which units are used?
The STEP importer reads the model and outputs the unit you select. The bounding box uses that unit. STL and OBJ do not reliably declare a unit, so they are labelled as file units. glTF coordinates use metres.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are read locally. glTF files that reference external resources are rejected to prevent network requests.
Supported formats and limits
Only static triangle-mesh geometry is displayed. STEP solids are triangulated for viewing; feature trees and editable CAD operations are not retained. Assemblies, textures, scripts and IGES are not supported.
