Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate customer acquisition cost?

Add marketing, sales, tools or agency, and other acquisition spend for one period. Divide the total by new customers acquired in that same period. CAC payback divides CAC by monthly gross profit per customer.

Are my customer or spending details uploaded?

No. The calculation runs in this browser. Enter aggregate totals only; do not enter names or personal customer data.

What costs should I include in CAC?

Use a consistent period and include the acquisition costs relevant to your business, such as marketing, sales, tools or agencies, and other direct spend. Do not mix a monthly cost with a quarterly customer count.

How is CAC payback estimated?

The optional estimate divides CAC by monthly revenue per customer multiplied by gross margin. It is not a lifetime-value estimate and excludes churn, expansion, payment timing, overhead, and changing margins.

Is a lower CAC always better?

Not by itself. Compare acquisition cost with customer quality, retention, gross profit, and the period used. This calculator does not judge whether a campaign is profitable.
