Norway Company Car Tax Calculator

Estimate the Norwegian taxable salary benefit from private use of a standard company passenger car, then estimate personal tax with a marginal rate you enter.

Calculations run in this browser. The figures you enter are not uploaded.

Estimate company-car benefit

Norwegian 2026 standard rules for passenger cars. This page does not infer your tax country from your language.

Mileage reduction requires a logbook and more than 40,000 work km.

The benefit is taxable income, not the tax bill. No full income-tax, employer-cost, reimbursement or financing calculation is included.

Enter the original list price and the months available.

Runs locally in this browser; input figures are not sent to a server.

What does this estimate?

For Norway’s 2026 standard rules, the benefit is based on the car’s list price as new, not its purchase price. The calculator applies the published threshold and rates, any eligible age or documented work-mileage reduction, and the number of months available.

How the estimate works

The 2026 standard benefit is 30% of the reduced list price up to NOK 370,300, plus 20% of any excess. The list-price base is normally 100%; it is 75% if the car was more than three years old on 1 January or documented work driving exceeded 40,000 km, and 56.25% when both conditions apply. Enter whole months for a part-year. Estimated personal tax is the taxable benefit multiplied by your own marginal rate; this is not a full tax calculation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the taxable benefit equal the tax I pay?

No. The benefit is added to taxable salary under the standard rules. The separate tax estimate multiplies it by the marginal rate you enter and does not calculate your full Norwegian tax.

Which car price should I enter?

Use the list price as new, including relevant factory-fitted and dealer-installed equipment under the official rules. Do not use the current market value or the price you paid for a used car.

When can I use the mileage reduction?

Only when work driving is documented by a qualifying mileage log and exceeds 40,000 km in the year. Exactly 40,000 km does not qualify. Personal driving is not work mileage.

Does this cover every vehicle or company-car case?

No. It covers the standard Norwegian passenger-car rules only. Special vehicles, vans class 2, exemptions and individual exceptions are outside this estimate.

Is the own-car comparison like-for-like?

No. It places your entered annual own-car cost next to estimated personal tax on a company-car benefit. Those are different measures; it excludes employer costs, reimbursements, financing, fuel, tax deductions and the full value of private use.

Norway scope and data date

This is a Norway-specific planning estimate using Skatteetaten’s 2026 standard company-car rates, checked 16 October 2026. The rules do not depend on the language selected on this page. It is not an official tax return, full tax calculation or legal decision. Special vehicles and exceptions are excluded. Rates are static in this build and do not refresh in the background; check Skatteetaten for the current year before relying on them.
