A quick example
If the top card is the queen of diamonds, you can play any diamond, any queen, or an eight. An eight lets you choose the suit the next player must follow.
How to play
This version uses a standard 52-card deck and the rules described by Norske kortspill: seven cards each with two players, five with three to six; match suit or rank; eights are wild; draw up to three cards, playing a drawn card if it fits. An eight is returned to the stock if it is turned up to start. Points left in other hands are added to their totals; eights count 50, face cards 10, aces 1 and number cards their value. The game ends only when a player’s cumulative total exceeds the selected limit (100 by default); the player with the lowest total wins.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can play?
You and one to five local computer players can play, for two to six seats total.
What can I play on the top card?
Play a card of the same suit or rank, or any eight. After an eight, choose the suit that the next player must match.
What happens when I cannot play?
Draw up to three cards, one at a time. If a drawn card fits, play it and end your turn. If none fit, your turn passes.
How does scoring work?
When a player empties their hand, other players add their remaining card values to their totals. Eights count 50, kings, queens and jacks 10, aces 1, and number cards their face value. The game ends when a total exceeds 100; the player with the lowest total wins.
Are house rules included?
No. This is one clearly stated Vri åtter ruleset. Special effects for twos, queens or aces, stacking, multi-card plays and the forgotten-last-card penalty are not enabled.

Rules and limitations
The computer opponents make legal, simple choices and do not see hidden cards. This is a single-device game, not online multiplayer. Norwegian household rules vary; this version uses the cited ruleset and leaves optional house rules off. The rules source was checked on 16 October 2026.
