Example
For one household member with no income and NOK 8,000 in monthly approved housing costs, the 2026 standard own contribution is about NOK 2,215 per month. The estimated benefit is about NOK 4,032 after applying the 73.7% rate.
How the scenario works
The tool divides household income by the official household weight, calculates the standard own contribution from weighted annual income, limits approved housing costs by the household-size and municipality cap, subtracts the monthly own contribution and applies 73.7%.
Common questions
Is this an official award or eligibility decision?
No. It is a standard-case scenario, not an application or decision. Husbanken’s official calculator applies current eligibility limits, personal rules and the month being checked.
What should I enter as household income?
Enter the monthly household income basis used by Husbanken before household weighting. It may include taxable monthly income, reportable annual income converted to a month, applicable wealth supplement and tax-free rental income. Children’s income and several named benefits are excluded. Check Husbanken’s income guidance.
What counts as approved housing costs?
Husbanken counts costs differently for renters, shared-cost housing and detached homes. Enter the amount already worked out under its current rules, not every housing bill. The result is still capped by household size and municipality.
Does changing language change the rules?
No. This tool estimates a Norway-only 2026 scenario in every interface language.
Scope and limits
Norway only. This standard-case estimate does not decide eligibility or model the separate upper household-income limit, minimum payout, single old-age pensioner or young-disabled thresholds, special-adapted housing, transition rules, or every income and asset exception. The 2026 rates are static and must be rechecked against Husbanken. Use its official calculator for the month you are checking.
