Example
For each scenario, enter the combined capital benefits due in that tax year and the matching official ESTV tax result. Compare the effective tax share and after-tax amount. A scenario in another year or municipality is shown, but is flagged as not directly comparable.
How it works
The Swiss Federal Tax Administration taxes eligible pension capital benefits separately from ordinary income. All capital benefits due in the same tax year are added together for one annual tax calculation. This tool does not reproduce cantonal tax rules: use the current official ESTV calculator and enter its result. Check withdrawal eligibility and timing with your pension provider and tax authority.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate my Swiss tax automatically?
No. It uses the amount you enter from the current official ESTV calculator and computes only the effective share, after-tax capital and scenario differences.
Which withdrawals should I add together?
Enter all pension capital benefits that are due in the same tax year as one combined amount, as directed by the ESTV calculation notes.
Can I compare different years or municipalities?
Yes, each scenario is displayed. The tool flags a different year, municipality or household profile because the tax results are not directly comparable.
Does it tell me if I can withdraw my pension?
No. Withdrawal conditions depend on the benefit and your circumstances. Confirm eligibility and timing with your pension provider and tax authority.
Does it recommend taking capital instead of a pension?
No. It compares withdrawal-tax results only and excludes investment returns, ordinary income tax, wealth tax, future benefits and personal needs.
Are my figures uploaded?
No. The comparison and CSV export run in this browser; the figures are not sent to a server.
Limits and accuracy
Use realistic values. The tool explains assumptions and does not replace professional, official or safety advice where that applies.
