A quick example
A 10 beats a 6 regardless of suit. If the top cards tie, each player in the battle places one card face down and one face up; the higher new card takes the pile.
How to play
This version follows the Norwegian Krig rules checked against Norske kortspill. Two to four players share one standard 52-card deck without jokers. Cards are dealt face down as evenly as possible; with three players, one card is set aside unseen. Everyone flips the top card together. The highest rank wins all cards on the table; suits do not matter. Ace is highest and 2 is lowest. If the highest cards tie, every player who joined that battle places one card face down and then one face up. The highest new face-up card takes the entire pile. A further tie repeats the same step. A player who cannot supply both war cards loses; their remaining cards join the battle pile. The last player with cards wins. The game is luck-driven, may take a long time, and this version does not claim to prevent every possible repeating sequence.

Rules and limitations
War is mostly chance and can last a long time; some card orders may repeat. This version uses one face-down card per player during a war, includes every player from the tied battle, and removes a player who cannot complete the down-and-up pair. Local CPU players simply flip cards. There is no online multiplayer, account, or uploaded game data.
