Taylor Series Calculator
Choose an elementary function, expansion center, degree and evaluation point. Inspect each coefficient, the polynomial estimate and its pointwise error.
What does a Taylor series calculator show?
It builds a finite Taylor polynomial from derivatives at a chosen center. The reported error is the absolute difference at your selected point, not a guaranteed error bound over an interval.
Frequently asked questions
What does a Taylor series calculator show?
It builds a finite Taylor polynomial from derivatives at a chosen center. The reported error is the absolute difference at your selected point, not a guaranteed error bound over an interval.
Are my values uploaded?
No. The polynomial and comparison are calculated in this browser; your values are not uploaded or saved.
What is a Maclaurin polynomial?
It is a Taylor polynomial centered at zero. This calculator lets you choose zero or another valid center.
Does the displayed difference guarantee accuracy throughout an interval?
No. It is the absolute difference at your single evaluation point. A remainder bound across an interval requires additional derivative bounds and conditions.
Why can the polynomial be poor outside a convergence radius?
The finite polynomial can be evaluated there, but the infinite Taylor series for logarithm, square root and reciprocal functions only converges inside its radius around the center.
